Forskningsdagene 2017

01. Oct 2017 KL. 11:00 - 16:00

In connection with ‘Research Days’, we collaborate with Statoil to give a presentation of recently-discovered war wreckage at the bottom of Boknafjorden. The lecture will be helt in four languages:

11:00: Norwegian

12:00: Polish

13:00: English

14:00: Italian

(15:00: bonus lecture in Norwegian if there is interest.)

Archaeologists Arild S. Vivås, Edgar Wróblewski and Massimiliano Ditta at Stavanger Maritime Museum will tell about how they identified the wreck and present it to the public in 3D. Furthermore, the archaeologists will tell the story of the sinking of the ship, which is an exciting journey down to over 500 meters deep, and a dramatic loss where one of the most famous submarines in World War II plays a central role.

Odd Arne Lillebø from Statoil also participates. He will present how Statoil worked when charting ground conditions and traces in connection with Johan Sverdrup's development.

This event is free!
